Shinedown é uma banda norte-americana de Jacksonville, Flórida formada atualmente por Brent Smith (vocais), Zach Myers (guitarra), Eric Bass (baixo e piano) e Barry Kerch (bateria).
O grupo lançou o seu álbum de estreia, Leave a Whisper, em 2003. Em 2005 a banda foi mais uma vez para o estúdio, dessa vez para gravar o segundo álbum da carreira, chamado Us and Them.
O terceiro só veio depois de mais três anos (em 2008), intitulado The Sound of Madness.
No ano de 2010, participou da trilha sonora de Alice no País das Maravilhas (Almost Alice) com o single "Her Name is Alice". No mesmo ano a banda lançou o single "Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom)".
Em 2011, a banda gravou seu segundo DVD ao vivo, Somewhere in the Stratosphere. Composto por dois shows: Live from Kansas City (Acústico) e Live from Washington State (Elétrico).
Até então, a banda já vendeu cerca de doze milhões de álbuns em todo o mundo
