E Dessa vez outro post bem diferente, o lado bom é que dessa vez é algo próximo ao Rock, não Pop como a postagem sobre o grande Adam Lambert, mas não vi o porque de não postar o Alabama , afinal é uma banda bem antiga com uma ótima qualidade sonora, um álbum que tem uma pegada Rock é sem dúvidas "Roll On" que está disponível logo abaixo, é uma banda que tanto apreciadores do Rock e Country deve conhecer, até porque muitas bandas atuais se inspiram em grandes bandas ou artistas, a postagem sobre eles já estava decidida e como sempre tento... está completíssima a discografia deles e a maior parte dos álbuns inclusive os mais antigos estão em 320kbps, abaixo disso haveria ruídos em certas partes, espero que apreciem os trabalhos destes grandes vovôs do Southern Rock & Country.

A banda surgiu em 1977 em Fort Payne, AL. Antes de Alabama.

Os primos ​​Randy Owen e Teddy Gentry cresceram juntos em Fort Payne, Alabama, que fica a cerca de três horas de Nashville, Tennessee. Eles começaram a tocar e cantar na igreja. Teddy começou a tocar violão na igreja, mas mais tarde mudou para o baixo quando ele estava no ginásio, ganhando uma de batalha das bandas. Esse foi o inicio do que viria a se tornar no futuro a banda Alabama, que tocava uma mistura de Country e Southern Rock combinado com elementos da música gospel e música pop.

A banda também gravou "My Home's, in Alabama" e devido ao sucesso dessa canção, a banda foi convidada para um show, onde várias bandas se reuniram para tocar para DJs e executivos da música. Naquele show, Alabama tinha que tocar com uma banda da casa. A banda não pôde tocar seus próprios instrumentos, e disseram para o baterista Mark Herndon se sentar na platéia. Randy, Teddy e Jeff cantaram "My Home's, in Alabama" e "Tennessee River". Randy impressionou Joe Galante que na época era o diretor de marketing da RCA. Randy disse à multidão que se a banda da casa não sabia as músicas, eles cantavam a cappella. A banda sentiu que eles tinham tocado horrivelmente, mas na verdade tinha três gravadoras interessadas neles, a RCA era uma delas.

A banda gravou três álbuns antes de assinar com a RCA: "Wildcountry" (1973), "Deuces Wild" (1977) e "Alabama 3" (1978). RCA comprou o álbum, "My Home's, in Alabama" da MDJ e re-lançou. Alabama quis assinar com a RCA, pois essa era a gravadora de Elvis Presley.

Em maio de 1980 foi lançado "My Home's, in Alabama", o álbum teve 3 singles, sendo que dois estrearam na 1° posição da Hot Country Songs, "Tennessee River" e "Why Lady Why". Esse álbum já vendeu mais de 2 milhões de cópias e iniciou uma trajetória espetacular, que poucas bandas na história da música conseguiram superar: a banda emplacou uma sequencia de 14 álbuns de estúdio, todos venderam mais de 1 milhão de cópias, fora um álbum natalino, um ao vivo e quatro compilações, totalizando 20 álbuns que venderam mais de 1 milhão de cópias. A banda já vendeu mais de 70 milhões de álbuns.

Na década de 1980, a banda lançou nove álbuns de estúdio, sendo que oito estrearam em 1° lugar na Top Country Albuns, foram 29 singles lançados e 27 estrearam na 1° posição da Hot Country Songs.

Em 2001, a banda lançou seu último álbum de estúdio, "When It All Goes South". Em maio de 2002, a banda anunciou sua "Farewell Tour", que aconteceu em todo os EUA durante 2003 e 2004.  banda já não faz mais turnês, mas lançaram dois álbuns gospel, "Songs of Inspiration" (2006) e "Songs of Inspiration 2" (2007).

A banda já ganhou mais de 150 prêmios ao longo dos anos.

Em 2011 a banda se reuniu novamente para tocar no ACM Awards, quando eles tocaram "OldAlabama no palco com Brad Paisley. A banda também se apresentou no Stagecoach Festival 2012 e tem mais algumas datas marcadas para 2012.
